Cisco's shift to XaaS and recurring revenue was colliding with operational reality. Enterprise deals required managing up to 56 separate quotes across fragmented systems. Sellers spent 80% of their time as "human middleware," manually reconciling data instead of engaging customers.
Surface-level UI improvements wouldn't address the root fragmentation. I initiated comprehensive ecosystem mapping to expose where the deal flow was breaking down. The insight: we needed to architect a platform-agnostic solution that could work above the backend chaos rather than wait for system consolidation.
